We are seeking a professional and highly experienced Store Keeper to join our automobile workshop team specializing in intercity buses, trucks, and heavy vehicles. The Store Keeper will play a vital role in managing the inventory, ensuring seamless coordination with vendors, supporting the workshop with required parts, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of spare parts, tools, lubricants, and fuel.
Monitor stock levels to ensure minimum and maximum levels are maintained.
Conduct regular stock audits and physical verifications to ensure inventory accuracy.
Implement bin cards for tracking spare parts movement.
2. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
Obtain and compare at least three quotations for spare parts from different suppliers before finalizing purchases.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality spare parts and consumables.
Verify goods received against purchase orders (quantity, quality, and price) and issue Goods Receipt Notes (GRNs).
3. Record Keeping and Reporting
Maintain detailed records, including:
Garage requisition notes
Goods issue notes
Gate passes for external repairs or issued spares
Goods return notes for defective or fake items
Job cards for maintenance (internal and external)
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inventory reports.
Track the value of stock items and prepare reports accordingly.
4. Workshop Support
Issue parts and tools to mechanics and technicians as per requisitions.
Maintain records of issued items, returns, and warranty claims for purchased items.
Coordinate with workshop supervisors for accurate and timely support.
Dispatch technicians and spare parts to resolve breakdowns for on-road trucks.
5. Health, Safety, and Organization
Ensure proper handling and storage of spare parts to prevent damage or loss.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe store environment following safety regulations.
6. Team Coordination
Work closely with workshop supervisors and technicians to fulfill operational needs.
Update the management team regarding stock availability, purchase approvals, and delivery timelines.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Store Keeper in an automobile workshop, handling intercity buses, trucks, and heavy vehicles.
In-depth knowledge of automotive spare parts, tools, and inventory systems.
Proficiency in inventory management software and tools.
Strong organizational, negotiation, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Diploma or certificate in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred).
Familiarity with Tanzanian suppliers and industry standards is a plus.
